The Thursday market has over 400 stalls dotted throughout the streets and squares in the city centre and around key buildings and sites. This popular market is over a thousand years old and was first documented in 1040. It’s a point of reference for the whole region and embodies the commercial spirit of Granollers.

People still sit down to a traditional hearty breakfast on market day, a custom developed by farmers and merchants to close their deals.

Clothes stalls are the most popular, followed by food, personal accessories and household goods. And there are still a few poultry stalls, reflecting the market’s farming past.

The market has produce from about fifteen different farmers, as well as several butchers and producers of cold meats and sausages, cheese, oil, conserves, honey and beer.

The weekly market for the district of Can Bassa also takes place on Saturday mornings, in Carrer d’Esteve Terrades, between Avinguda de Marie Curie and Carrer de Caterina Albert.

The Sant Carles Municipal Market has been located in Plaça de la Caserna, in the old town, since 1968. The market has around thirty stalls selling top quality fresh produce, especially fish, beef, pork and horse meat, as well as poultry.

You can also buy local products such as cold meats and sausages, fruit and vegetables and salted fish and, in addition to the traditional bakery products, there are also prepared dishes, legumes and patisserie products, among others.

Throughout the year the streets and squares of Granollers are filled with various fairs and flea markets.

• Vallès Crafts Fair: a small fair with local handicrafts, taking place one Saturday a month in Carrer Anselm Clavé, one of the main pedestrianised streets in the centre.
• Crafts Fair in Plaça de la Corona: A small fair with a wide range of traditionally made products, both local and imported, at a good price. This sells silver jewellery and gemstones, pottery and wooden crafts, clothing accessories,  basketwork, aromatic herbs and cosmetics. It’s held on two Fridays a month in the Plaça de la Corona.

The Les Fires i festes de l’Ascensió  is an annual event involving several sectors that displays the latest innovations from the manufacturing, services and automotive industries, agriculture and stockbreeding. It’s located in the Parc Firal (trade fair) This trade fair coincides with the celebration of the Ascension and is complemented by various cultural and traditional acts, such as a procession, a gastronomic exhibition and the ‘Jugar x Jugar’ festival.

Thanks to the participation of all exhibitors, this has become a leading display of the commercial, industrial, gastronomic, agricultural and leisure-related products and services available in the Vallès Oriental, with 69 years of history.

The Les Fires i festes de l’Ascensió has become a tradition throughout the county but it is also still evolving to promote new initiatives.

The Jugar x Jugar Fair is held every year as part of the fairs and events of the Ascension, in the grounds of Roca Umbert Fàbrica de les arts. The fair is complemented by exhibitions, conferences, workshops and fun activities. During the fair, the awards for the Ciutat de Granollers Games Creation Competition take place.
